By default, I got to take our new front mount Bobike seat home to try with my daughter as I’m the only guy with a kid in the shop.
I knew she was going to like the seat being she’s 2 years old and likes almost anything for at least 30 seconds. As soon as I got home I pulled my Section 7 out of the garage began to mount the seat.
My daughter was so excited. She ran inside for her “hel-mit” all ready to go for ride. While she worked feverishly to get into her safely gear (coveralls and gloves) I easily attached the stem mounted bracket. Once I was sure it was secure I attached the seat into the bracket, securing it with a cotter-pin. This set up makes it easy to take the seat off and on so that you don’t have to always have the seat attached.
I’m not sure why but whenever my daughter is really excited about something she knows exactly what to do so that she can have fun as quickly as possible. So either the seat is amazingly easy to get a child in and out of or she has already practiced on her own…which as a proud dad, wouldn’t surprise me.
With a quick click of the reinforced 3 point safety belt and the shoe straps on tightly we were ready to go. While all of this was happening my father-in-law became quite intrigued with the new seat so I offered him the first ride with his granddaughter.

As expected, she was very excited but what has floored me is that she will stay in the seat for well over an hour. Since the initial 15 minute ride last week we have clocked over 50 km, stopping at many adventure playgrounds on the way.
I am very happy with these new front mount seats and they’re a snap to install (however we recommend getting a bike mechanic to install for safety reasons). The construction is solid and my 27 lb toddler couldn’t make it sway even when we made wide circles in the Safeway parking lot. So far, including the fun factor, I give this seat a 10/10.
